Test, Trials, and Pressure Produce Gratitude

James 1:2-4 says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

James at first glance seems so far from what makes one grateful.  How can trials, testing and pressure produce gratitude. Read more…

Be Glad and Rejoice

Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made, Let us Rejoice and be glad in it.”

Gratitude is an everyday action, done in the present with celebration.  The reason for daily gratitude is God has made each day therefore it is good.  God is the personification of goodness, there is not evil in Him. The day from our perspective may not be good because of negative circumstances, volatile emotions or spiritual dryness.  We live in God therefore we are blessed. We have to choose to rejoice because of our relationship with God.

There is a chorus I like “I am blessed, I am blessed every day that I live I am blessed.  When I rise up in the morning till I lay my head to rest, I am blessed.”

Be glad and Rejoice!

God Is Not Through With You Yet!

Life often throws us curve balls leaving us scrambling to restore some semblance of normality. When we have a center of gravity be it family, friends or valves they will help us to make it through the wild ride. There are some curve balls which eclipse what these norms can accomplish. Like death of a loved one, the breakup of a relationship, divorce, children who lose their way, financial bankruptcy, loss of a lifelong career or diagnosis of a terminal illness. These require supernatural intervention which only Jesus can give.

The Triumph of Victory/The Agony of Defeat

We all face trials, temptations, and tests.  No one is exempt. But God has a plan for us to triumph in, over, and through each of them. Sometimes God delivers us out of them all.  Sometimes He walks beside us through them all, but always He does not leave us nor forsake us, nor does He allow us to be tempted above what we are able to stand.

The adversary, the devil, desires to sift us, to destroy us and to kill us.  However, Jesus has triumphed over all of the schemes and wicked desires of the devil through His death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead.  In fact, He sits at the right hand of the Father as our advocate interceding for us.

Look Beyond the Dark

Life seems to be plunged into deep, dark despair. Constant anger, criticism, hateful speech – it is enough to press one into isolation. But when one views life through the lens of the life giver. The way is made clear, the truth shines as bright as the noon day sun and life becomes vibrant.

The source of life is Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God. He gave Himself to bring light to the darkness, hope to the hopeless, peace to the anxious and holiness to
the broken. Read more…

Confusion Breeds Discontent

Confusion is a state of mind brought on by uncertainty, relativism, egocentrism, and fear. When one has no foundation which is immutable, no truth which is transcendent, and no standard that does not vacillate the only logical conclusion – confusion.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Gives you all you need to be clear eyed. “Trust in the LORD, with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Read more…

The Pursuit of Wisdom Results In Knowing God

Proverbs 2: 1-15 says:
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,  turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.  For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.  Read more…

You are Called to Soar

We are empowered by the breath of God to rise on winds of faith soaring about life’s storms. We are eagles who use adversity to triumph as God’s Spirit updrafts us to the calming presence of His Son.

There is Hope

Though life may seem hopeless, you wake as dark as midnight and sorrow overflows you like a rogue wave. Remember there is one who is the fountain head of hope, the light that penetrates the darkest night and is the commander of the waves of life that speaks peace be still.

That one is, Jesus the God who became man that He may know what we experience and is touched by our dilemmas. He does not just commiserates, but knows intimately what we experience.

When You Do Not Understand, Trust

Proverbs 3:5-7 (MSG) Says, “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your bones will vibrate with life!”
Confusion comes from lack of knowledge and the inability to interpret knowledge
